December is when we bid adieu to 2016, but in the life of your business, it is also the perfect time to set the table and put out the welcome mat for 2017. Like any good party, it starts with an inventory of the pantry.
Do you have what you need when it comes to marketing to your clients? The month of December is the perfect time to review your printed marketing materials to determine whether a complete re-design is needed or simply a first-quarter reprint.
One way to decide is to think about what you accomplished in 2016. Do you have success stories, patient testimonials, new equipment purchases, expanding services or other newsworthy items that might fit nicely into your marketing materials? If so, it’s penny-wise and pound foolish to bypass a revised version in favor of using up old stock. Put your best foot forward with revised materials.
The inventory we take isn’t just of the actual printed materials themselves, but the content that goes into those materials. Do you have fresh content? Do you have new photography? Some people find the idea of producing these stories and the subsequent collateral materials daunting, but just as we wouldn’t perform a surgery or examine a patient, we invite you to leave the writing and design to us.
Does your business regularly produce a newsletter? If so, December is a great time to put together a plan for the content to be featured throughout 2017.
Those with a flair for writing may take on this assignment themselves, but if you lack the time or the talents to write newsletter content (which, by the way, is also perfect for your website) – our team of writers is ready to take your wish list and turn it into a batch of articles that will tell your story in a voice and tone appropriate to your business. Starting the year with a newsletter schedule – complete with editorial and graphic content already decided – is a huge relief to anyone producing a regular publication.
Once you’ve completed the inventory and addressed the gaps in your marketing materials, it’s time to connect with your customers, because like that great party, it doesn’t work without the guests. Did you know that December is the perfect time to make your advertising buys for the first quarter? It’s often cheaper to run television, radio, and online ads in the beginning of the year because outlets are missing the ad buys from retailers and others who are focused on a year-end market. Setting ad budgets, determining the focus and messaging of your ads, and making those buys is a necessary part of any end-of-the-year planning.
Now that you have reviewed your online presence (discussed in our previous blog article), updated your printed marketing materials and made your ad buys for the first quarter of 2017, you’re ready for a successful year.
We finish with one last thought. Marketing is like a friendship in that it takes care and attention all throughout the year to be deeply felt and meaningful. Tschetter and Associates knows what it takes to make and keep those meaningful connections while you focus on the business of your business.
Wishing you a prosperous, successful New Year!
