How To Improve SEO Beyond Text
Everyone wants their website to show up at the top of search rankings, right? The goal of any online presence is to gain visitors that turn into sales. That can only happen by showing up in the search rankings where potential customers will find you. But many think that you only need keywords and meta-data on your website. Here are a few ways to increase your SEO:
- Improve Page Load Times: Google takes into account the user’s experience when showing your page on the SERP rankings (search engine results pages). If users come to your page and it takes a long time to load the content (anything over a few seconds), that is not creating a pleasant user experience. Google tends to favor fast-loading webpages, because users won’t navigate away if the information they need shows up right away.
- Update Your Design: Just like the fashion industry, design trends change quite often. So, if your website still has web design from 2008 (basically pre-historic) you may want to update it to 2017 web design. Designs are a reflection of your business in the user’s view. Keep it modern.
- Responsive Design: People will view your website from many different devices, such as desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Providing a website that will display appropriately on all devices helps in Google rankings. It goes back to that pleasant user experience again.
- Easy-to-Navigate: By providing an easy to navigate website, the user has a pleasant experience on your website. Google doesn’t like to send people to websites to be confused by them.
As you can see, SEO isn’t only about text and meta-data on the back end of your website. A great SEO strategy will incorporate the end-users experience into the plan. Just like walking into a brick and mortar store, a pleasant experience will keep people coming back and they will refer you to others.
